"Game On" is The Fly's weekly recap of the stories powering up or beating down video game stocks.

NEW RELEASES: This week's major release is Warner Bros. Interactive's (T) "Back 4 Blood," a multiplayer shooter developed by "Left 4 Dead" studio Turtle Rock. The game launches October 12 on PC, PlayStation 4 (SONY), PS5, Xbox One (MSFT), and Xbox Series X/S. The title will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. Also out this week is Electronic Arts' (EA) hockey sim "NHL 22," which launches October 15 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

TWITCH BREACH: Last week, VGC's Chris Scullion reported that an anonymous hacker alleged to have leaked he entirety of Amazon's (AMZN) Twitch streaming service, including it source code and user payout data. The user leaked a 125GB torrent link to 4chan, claiming that the leak was meant to "foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space" because "their community is a disgusting toxic cesspool," Scullion said at the time, noting that such files are publicly available to download as described by the hacker. One anonymous company source confirmed to VGC that the leaked information is legitimate. Twitch later confirmed that the breach had taken place, saying that its teams were "working with urgency to understand the extent of this." "We will update the community as soon as additional information is available," the Amazon unit added.

JASSY COMMENTS: In other Amazon video game-related news, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said at a technology conference last week that video games could end up being the biggest entertainment category over the long haul, according to Bloomberg. The comments come after Amazon's newest original game "New World," which experienced a long and rocky development cycle, released late last month to positive feedback following nearly a decade of Amazon's failures in the game development space.

NEW 'GHOST RECON': On Friday, Ubisoft (UBSFY) announced "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Frontline," a new free-to-play, massive PvP shooter grounded in the renowned Ghost Recon universe. "Ghost Recon Frontline" will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Stadia (GOOG), Luna and Windows PC via Ubisoft Connect, with full cross-play available at launch. Developed by Ubisoft Bucharest, which previously worked on "Ghost Recon Wildlands" and "Ghost Recon Breakpoint," "Ghost Recon Frontline" offers a new way for players to explore the Ghost Recon universe, with a free-to-play, 100+ players, PvP firstperson military experience, the company said.
